左宗棠（1812年11月10日—1885年9月5日），汉族，字季高，一字朴存，号湘上农人。湖南湘阴人。晚清军事家、湘军名将，与曾国藩等人并称“晚清中兴四大名臣”。
同治年间陕甘大乱，新疆群雄割据，左宗棠临危请命，帅6万湖湘弟子抬棺出征，一路风沙，一路征程。平*乱，收复新疆，功在千秋，左公千古。
