乍浦镇隶属于浙江嘉兴平湖市，位于平湖市东南部。乍浦地处杭州湾北岸，依山傍海，自古就有“江浙门户”、“海口重镇”之称，在清代就是浙北地区对外经济文化交往的重要门户。

东汉永建二年（127年）曾为海盐县治，故又称“故邑城”。唐会昌四年（844年）置乍浦镇，宋、元时已发展成为东南沿海对外贸易的重要港口。清康熙二十三年(1684年)，乍浦列为东南沿海十五个口岸之一，设有“海关”，人口达四、五万，被誉为“东南雄镇”。乍浦为历代军事要冲，著名的明嘉靖“梁庄平倭”战役和清道光鸦片战争中“观山湾抗英”战役，均发生于此。
