张伯林（1843-1928），美国地质学家，于1909年来到中国江西、江苏、四川、河北、沈阳、湖北、广东等地旅行考察，并拍摄了大量那个年代的照片。这些照片中有很多得以流传下来，让我们有机会查看到110年前的中国各地模样。

笔者有幸收集到600多幅张柏林当年拍摄的照片，今天给大家展示一组当时在江西九江地区拍摄的老照片，展现了清末时期九江的秀美风光，实属难得，欢迎大家查阅。

九江，简称“浔”，古称柴桑、江州、浔阳，是一座有着2200多年历史的江南名城，号称”三江之口，七省通衢“与”天下眉目之地“，有“江西北大门”之称。

1909年，从九江城墙看向江面的的汽船。

九江市使用的汉语方言有赣语、江淮官话、客家话等。由于古代集体移民的原因，九江市范围内的方言还有湖南话、河南话、江西的吉安话、安徽的桐城话等。说湘语的湖南人分布在永修境内；河南话主要分布在武宁、永修、都昌等地；吉安话主要分布在德安境内；桐城话主要分布在彭泽县沿江一带。
