Zhang Bolin’s Chinese Photography Collection in 1909 (11) Passing Yueyang and Shashi

On January 4, 1909, an American geologist, Zhang Bolin, and his son, Luo Lin, set out from Chicago and arrived in Shanghai on February 2 of the same year. During his stay in China, Zhang Bolun and his son successively visited 13 provinces including Jiangsu, Guangdong, Guangxi, Hubei, Sichuan, Henan, Zhili, Shanxi, and took more than 600 photos recording the social life of the late Qing Dynasty, which were later summarized into a photo album in 1909=“ http://www.laozhaopian5.com/jingdian/1891.html “target=”_ Blank “>Zhang Bolin’s Collection of Chinese Photography 。

Wuhanstayed for several days and set out for Yueyang, Hunan Province on March 6. It arrived in Yueyang on March 7, but the ship was stranded in a sandbar and delayed for several days before continuing to leave. On March 10, it passed through Shashi and set out for Yichang.

At that time, Luo Lin and his party did not enter Yueyang City, and the ship may have stopped at Chenglingji.

考察团所乘坐的轮船是3月6日早上7点启航，3月7日同一时间到达湖南岳阳，这是罗林在船上拍摄的岳阳沿岸的风光，可以看到江中的沙洲较多，给航行带来了很多麻烦。

在岳阳稍微停歇一个小时，轮船继续出发，在中午时分轮船陷于沙洲中，此为轮船上的船员为了判断情况，准备将小船放下水里的场面。

这次的搁浅一直持续到3月8日的早上，终于将船从沙洲中开出，当天小心翼翼地往上游行驶。到3月9日中午，前方遇到别的船只抛锚，考察团乘坐的轮船也随之抛锚等待，直到3月10日早上，罗林醒来，发现船仍然在原来的位置一动未动，到上午10点多，才开始前行

3月10日下午5点半，轮船抵达沙市附近，这是罗林在船上拍摄的沙市段沿江风光，此处的堤岸上有着一座漂亮的中国民居。

沙市段的风光，最右边的建筑像一个倒盖着的大碗，有点像是砖窑。

此段路程持续了好几天，但是罗林拍摄的照片就这么5张，太可惜了。特别是搁浅期间没事干何不多拍摄点照片啊。

1909年3月11日早上6点半，考察团乘坐的轮船离开沙市，准备前往宜昌。
