In the 14th year of Hongwu, Emperor Taizu of the Ming Dynasty (1381), Zhongqing Road was changed into Yunnan Province, and Yunnan Chengxuan was set up as the administrative envoy and the command envoy of the capital. Yunnan Province, prefectures and counties were in Kunming at that time
At the end of the Qing Dynasty, Yunnan Prefecture had jurisdiction over 7 counties, including Kunming (now in the urban area of Kunming, Yunnan Province), Fumin (today in Fumin County, Yunnan Province), Yiliang (today in Yiliang County, Yunnan Province), Chenggong (today in Chenggong County, Yunnan Province), Luoci (today in Biteng Town, Lufeng County, Yunnan Province), Lufeng (today in Lufeng County, Yunnan Province), and Yimen; Songming (now Songming County, Yunnan Province), Jinning (now Jinning County, Yunnan Province), Anning (now Anning City, Yunnan Province), and Kunyang (now Bajie Town, Anning City, Yunnan Province) are four scattered prefectures. It was abolished in the second year of the Republic of China (1913)
