In April 1949, the National Government moved from Nanjing to Guangzhou. In August, the People’s Liberation Army liberated the whole territory of Jiangxi Province and prepared to march into Guangdong Province. The 4th, 15th, Guangdong Guangdong Column, Guangdong Jiangxi Hunan Border Column, and Guangdong Central Column of the People’s Liberation Army, with a total of more than 220000 people, attacked Guangdong in three routes on October 2; Guangzhou was liberated on the 14th. This group of pictures was taken by American photographer Jack· Burns was photographed in August 1949
