Henry· Agade· Wallace (October 7, 1888 – November 18, 1965), American statesman, Franklin· During Roosevelt’s time, he was the Secretary of Agriculture and Vice President of the United States; Truman served as Minister of Commerce. He symbolized the populist philosophy of the New Deal Democrats and designed the controversial agricultural policy of the Democratic Party government throughout the 1930s. But in 1946, he fell out with the Democratic Party because of the foreign policy towards the Soviet Union
U.S. President Roosevelt sent Vice President Wallace to visit China on June 18, 1944, in order to realize his strategic vision of the Far East and the Pacific region, maintain the cooperation between wartime allies, and establish a new world order based on the cooperation of major powers and centered on the United States. The main purpose of Wallace’s visit was to mediate the contradictions between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party and Sino Soviet relations
During their five-day stay, Wallace and his delegation held many talks in Chongqing and visited Yunnan, Lanzhou and other places. This group of photos was taken at that time

美国总统罗斯福为了实现其关于远东和太平洋地区的战略设想,维持战时盟国之间的合作,确立战后以大国合作为基础、以美国为核心的世界新秩序,于1944年6月18日派副总统华莱士访问中国。华莱士此行的主要目的是调解国共矛盾与中苏关系。
华莱士一行4人在五天的逗留期间,在重庆进行了多次会谈,并到访了云南、兰州等地。本组照片就是当时所拍。
