Leifeng Pagoda fell in 1924

Leifeng Pagoda, also known as Imperial Concubine Pagoda and Xiguan Brick Pagoda, is located on the Leifeng Peak of Xizhao Mountain on the south bank of West Lake Scenic Area in Hangzhou. Leifeng Pagoda was first built in 977 AD by Qian Hongchu, the Yiwang of Wuyue, in order to worship the Buddhist relics in a spiral bun. Because the time of Tacheng coincided with the passing away of Qian Hongchu, the wife of the Northern Song Dynasty; Princess”, So it is named“ Imperial Concubine Tower”. 荷兰图片网上发现的一幅杭州【雷峰塔】图片，未标明拍摄年代。看塔的样子，大致应是1920-1924年间最后的遗像了。

雷峰塔的重建

1999年7月，浙江作出了重建雷峰塔、恢复“雷峰夕照”景观的决定。2000年12月26日，雷峰塔重建工程正式奠基。

2001年3月11日，雷峰塔地宫开始发掘，2002年10月25日，雷峰塔重建竣工正式落成，现在咱们的最高领导，当年为省长，还亲自为新塔揭牌。

现在的新塔

雷峰新塔建在遗址之上，保留了旧塔被烧毁之前的楼阁式结构，完全采用了南宋初年重修时的风格、设计和大小建造。这座塔兼具遗址文物保护罩的功能，新塔通高71.679米，由台基（起到保护罩的作用）、塔身和塔刹三部分组成，其中塔身高49.17米，塔刹高18.25米，地平线以下的台基为9.8米。由上至下分别为：塔刹、天宫、五层、四层、三层、二层、暗层、底层、台基二层、台基底层。
