The old photo of Guanxian County, Sichuan (now Dujiangyan) in 1917 was taken by Ganbo
Dujiangyan is short for“ Fill”, It is directly under the jurisdiction of Sichuan Province and managed by Chengdu City. It is located at the mountain pass of Minjiang River on the northwest edge of Chengdu Plain, named after Dujiangyan, a water conservancy project; The city borders Pengzhou City, Pidu District and Wenjiang District in the east, Wenchuan County in the west and north, and Guanxian County in the past
In the 13th year of the Yuan Dynasty to the Yuan Dynasty (1276), Guankou Village was used to establish Guanzhou, and Qingcheng County and Daojiang County were abolished. In the ninth year of Hongwu in the Ming Dynasty (1376), Guanxian Prefecture was designated as Guanxian County. In the 10th year of Hongwu’s reign (1377), Chongning County was evacuated to Guanxian County. It was followed in the Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China. In May 1988, Guanxian County was removed from the county and changed its name to Dujiangyan City
The following photos were taken by Sidney Gambo, an American photojournalist, during his investigation in Sichuan from 1917 to 1919. They are very precious. Welcome to view them
