Haizhou now belongs to Haizhou District, Lianyungang City, Jiangsu Province. Haizhou has a long history. It has been established for more than 2000 years since the pre Qin period. Journey to the West and Flowers in the Mirror were born here. The county was established in 212 BC, and the prefecture was established 1500 years ago. It has rock paintings of General Cliff, cliff statues of Kongwang Mountain, round stone statues of Han Dynasty; Five Palace Tunes&rdquo There are 29 national, provincial and municipal cultural protection units and 205 intangible cultural heritages in 16 categories, including Jiu’an and 18 temples

海州古城墙和城门，保持相当完整。

梁武帝天监十一年（512年），海州城初建，有东西两门。宋绍兴二十三年（1162年），加筑海州城垣，并筑外城。原城墙已经于1956年拆除，仅有部分残迹，现有1995年重建的朐阳门。
