Old photos of Zhengzhou in 1943. The commercial street in front of the railway station was shabby under Japanese bombing

Sharing a group of old photos of Zhengzhou in 1943, let’s take a look at the dilapidated commercial street in front of Zhengzhou Railway Station under Japanese bombing at that time. The photographer of this group is Harrison Forman, and the shooting time is February 1943

Since February 14, 1938, Japanese military aircraft have bombed the commercial areas near Longhai and Pinghan Roads in Zhengzhou several times, including the big bombing on February 14, 1938. The commercial street in front of Zhengzhou Railway Station was the key target of Japanese bombing. Around Datong Road and other prosperous streets, Chinese and Western buildings unique to the Republic of China during this period were bombed, causing more than 500 compatriots to be killed and injured, which is known as the Zhengzhou Massacre

The Japanese bombing caused serious damage to the city of Zhengzhou, and the once prosperous commercial street in front of Zhengzhou Railway Station was in ruins

Let’s take a look
