The photographer of this group of photos is Robert Middleot, a soil scientist and professor of geography at Johns Hopkins University in the United States; Larimore· Robert Larimore Pendleton (1890-1957)

From 1931 to 1933, Pendleton visited China, covering Guangdong, Guangxi, Hainan, Hong Kong, Macao, Inner Mongolia, Shanxi, Beijing, Jilin, Heilongjiang, Liaoning, Jiangsu, Shanghai, Zhejiang, Hebei and other provinces and cities today. He took more than 1100 stereoscopic photos, recording the local customs of China during the Republic of China

Among them, more than 120 photos were taken in Nanjing, which are organized as follows:

本组照片的拍摄者是美国约翰霍普金斯大学土壤科学家和地理学教授罗伯特·拉里莫尔·彭德尔顿（RobertLarimore Pendleton，1890-1957）。

1931年至1933年,彭德尔顿来中国考察，足迹遍及现今的广东、广西、海南、香港、澳门、内蒙古、山西、北京、吉林、黑龙江、辽宁、江苏、上海、浙江、河北等省市地区，共拍摄了1100余张立体照片，记录了民国时期中国各地的风土人情。

其中在南京地区拍摄了120多副照片，整理如下：
