五老峰为庐山主峰，地处庐山东南侧，海拔1436米，因山的绝顶被垭口所断，分成并列的五个山峰，仰望俨若席地而坐的五位老翁，故人们便把这原出一山的五个山峰统称为“五老峰”。

李白曾多次登五老峰，并留下诗文：“庐山东南五老峰，青天削出金芙蓉。九江秀色可览结，吾将此地巢云松。”意指：庐山五老峰的峭拔秀丽，登上此峰可俯视山下美景。
