Jinling Women’s University is the earliest women’s university in China. As early as 1911, the American Presbyterian Church, the American Israeli American Church, the Baptist Church and other organizations proposed to establish a women’s university in the Yangtze River valley. In 1913, Jinling Women’s University was planned to be built in Xiuhua Lane, southeast of Mochou Lake, Nanjing. In 1915, the school officially opened. The first president, Laurence Thurston
moved to Suiyuan in 1923. After 1927, the school affairs were transferred from the Americans to the Chinese. In 1928, Ms. Xu Yizhen was elected as the Chairman of the Board of Directors, and Ms. Wu Yifang served as the President. In 1930, it was put on file in the Ministry of Education of the National Government and renamed Jinling Women’s College of Arts and Sciences. In 1937, the Anti Japanese War moved to Huaxi Dam, Chengdu, Sichuan, and returned to Nanjing in 1946& nbsp;
