Lingwu, a county-level city under the jurisdiction of Ningxia, is entrusted by Yinchuan City. Lingwu was called Lingzhou in ancient times. In the Western Han Dynasty, Lingzhou County was established. In the 12th year of Tongzhi in the Qing Dynasty (1873), Nanjin Jibao in Lingzhou was changed into Ningling Hall, Tongxin Fort and Hongsi Fort were changed into Pingyuan County, and Huamachi Prefecture (now Yanchi County) was changed into Salt Catching Hall. In 1950, Wuzhong City emerged. In 2002, Lingwu was transferred to Yinchuan
Claude Pickens (1900-1985), the photographer of this group of photos, was an American priest. He, together with other missionaries in 1936, made an investigation and study of Northwest China, Tibet and Inner Mongolia. During this period, he took a large number of photos, recording the living conditions of people in northwest China at that time, and also leaving us the customs along the way
