This group of photos is from Yadong Printing Collection. It was from August 1924 to 1944 that the Japanese invaders sent intelligence personnel to take a large number of human and geographical photos of various parts of China, which were published by the Japanese as A Collection of Asian Prints. These photos recorded the living conditions of Chinese people at that time, as well as the geographical features of all parts of the country, giving us a chance to see the historical images of China at that time

The magazine in which the photos of this group were taken was first published in May 1930, so the photos of this group should be taken before May 1930

普陀山的码头，最前面的山门叫海岸牌坊，为清朝雍正年间始建，1919年由皖人陈性良捐资重建。山门后的建筑叫回澜亭，建于光绪年间。

一些香客坐着竹藤轿，被轿夫们抬着上山拜佛，僧人脚下放有竹筐应是由香客施舍功德之用。

普陀山蜿蜒的石阶山道，一行老人艰难攀爬上山。道边有一僧人正在路边打坐修行，令人敬佩。

短姑古迹处为一天然码头，进了普陀山佛国山门，往东南300米处（近“入三摩地”），即是短姑道头，又称短姑圣迹、短姑古迹。

此地旧时原为海滩，滩上有阔十余米，长百来米，小石自相零附、两侧错列巨细不一形状各异的岩石，岩石石上镌有“短姑古迹”、“慈航普渡”、“道义同皈”、“第一佛国”、“乐土”等14款题刻，出没于潮汐浪涛之中。

相传，古时姑嫂来此礼佛，虔持数年，适值至山，姑临经期，嫂短小姑，姑亦自惭，不敢入山，独留舟中。午时，潮涨路绝，饥不得餐。适有老妇提篮而来，投石于水，款足至舟，送食于姑。姑甚奇异，不知谁矣。午后，嫂礼佛还舟，给食于姑，姑日：“顷刻老妇已送饭来！众皆惊奇，有佛现身乎！嫂急返殿祈祷，瞻仰莲座，大士衣裙犹湿耳。遂名”短姑圣迹。

普济寺，庭前古树参天，香炉中烟雾缭绕。

普济寺，是普陀山的佛教活动中心，一切重大的佛事活动在此举行。普济禅寺始建于宋朝，为普陀山山中供奉观音的主刹。

刻有“万众共仰”四个大字的一处摩崖石刻，下方的岩石上坐一位苦行僧，手执摇铃修行中，庄严肃穆，让人叹服。
