Tong Zhongyi, one of the martial arts experts in the Qing Dynasty, was the chief instructor of the capital patrol camp in 1902

Everyone has a dream of martial arts, and everyone has a Jin Yong in their heart

Many people believe that in modern society, there are few people practising martial arts and there are many secular disturbances, so it is certain that you cannot become a master. Only in ancient society can you become a master

I will release some old photos of martial arts experts from the late Qing Dynasty to the early Republic of China in a period of time to show you the ancient style of martial arts

Tong Zhongyi (1879-1963), a Manchu, was born in Cangxian County, Hebei Province. His ancestors are the Zhengbai Banner of the Qing royal family. He began to practice martial arts at the age of 6. In 1902, he was the chief martial arts instructor of the capital patrol camp, and in 1910, he was the chief martial arts instructor of Baoding Army. He joined the Republic of China and became the martial arts instructor of Cao Kun’s Guard. In 1925, he moved to Shanghai. In the 21st year of the Republic of China, he won the first place in the Liuhe Sect of the first national martial arts competition

The following photo was taken by American photographer Jack Birns in 1948 in Shanghai by Tong Zhongyi. At that time, though Tong Zhongyi was 69 years old, he was physically strong, mentally and temperamentally excellent, and had a good demeanor as a master

Let’s have a look at this former Wulin expert
