A group of old photos of Yanjing University in 1920s
Founded in the early 20th century, Yanjing University is one of the largest, best quality and most beautiful universities in modern China. Leiden Stuart, the founder, has been the president of Yanda for a long time, and he determined the motto of Yanda as“ Freedom through truth and service”. In the spring of 1928, Yanjing University cooperated with Harvard University to establish the Harvard Yanjing Society. By the 1930s, Yanjing University had become one of the world’s top universities and was famous at home and abroad
In 1952, Yanjing University was abolished in the adjustment of departments of Chinese universities;. The liberal arts and sciences are mostly merged into Peking University, the engineering is merged into Tsinghua University, and the law school and sociology department are merged into Beijing University of Political Science and Law (now China University of Political Science and Law). The campus is accepted by Peking University, and its buildings are still the original site of Yanjing University
