The round pocket watch is inlaid with grass fern agate and decorated with glittering pearl stone. There are hollowed grass patterns and mythical figures around the body. The dial is white enamel, double needle type with Roman characters and the words “James Cox/London”. James Cox (1723-1800), an Englishman, is famous for his design and production of gorgeous clocks and watches, and rare objects of clockwork drive. Its workshop once produced large clock with architecture, chariot and horse forms or three-dimensional figures, pocket watches, eight tone boxes, tool boxes, etc., which can be seen in the old collections of the Qing Palace.
