The pen pot is carved from a section of bamboo, with a flat bottom and three short feet. A squatting figure is carved on the surface of the bamboo tube. This character wears beard and grins. The other side of the bamboo tube is engraved: “Go to a place where the water is poor, and sit and watch the clouds rise.”. The whole piece is carved with thin field Yang script technique.
