Lan Ying was born in Qiantang (now Hangzhou, Zhejiang), but she did not inherit the tradition of Zhejiang School. It is known from the postscript on the painting that this is an “antique” work created by Lan Ying at the age of 39 in the style of Wang Wei, a poet and painter of the Tang Dynasty.
