It is said that Zhou Zhimian (1542-1606) kept a variety of birds at home and observed the ecology, so he was particularly good at depicting flowers and birds. The male mandarin standing in front of the peach blossom and on the willow trunk on the fan of the gold paper, looking back at the female ducks flying in the sky, and the willow branches rising again when they are dipped into the water, all of these delicate designs echo the “Chapter of Mandarin Ducks” copied on the back, presenting a romantic and beautiful scene.
