Li Shida (about 1550-1621 AD), born in Wuxian County (now Suzhou, Jiangsu Province), was named Yanghuai. In the second year of Wanli’s reign (1574), he was a scholar who was good at landscape painting. He also studied the theory of painting. He once talked about the five beauties and five evils of landscape painting.
