Description:
The square tripod has two ears, and the foot is in the shape of a flat Kui. The belly is decorated with animal face pattern, and the upper part is a round Kui pattern. There is an inscription “Duke of Lu, Zha, Wang Guoyi”. The shape, decoration and inscription of the vessel are all imitated from the “King Wen Ding of Zhou” in the “Xuanhe Bogutou”. According to the interpretation of the text, King Wen’s Fang Ding is used as a sacrificial vessel for the Duke of Zhou to sacrifice to King Wen. Because the inscription is simple and easy to understand, and the content involves two important historical figures, it became a very popular style of the tripod in the Ming Dynasty.
