Shen Shichong, born in Huating (today’s Songjiang, Shanghai), has the name Ziju. It was held in Wanli and Chongzhen years (the first half of the 17th century). It learned from Song Maojin and Zhao Zuo, and had close contacts with Chen Jiru, Dong Qichang and other Songjiang scholars. It also wrote for Dong Qichang. His painting style draws nutrients from the archaize, and pays attention to the flexible effect of cloud and smoke. Critics say that his painting style is fresh and beautiful. The title of this volume is Chongzhen Jisi (1629). Although the title of the painting is snow landscape, it has light colors, which points out the vitality of the landscape and presents another way of expressing the theme of snow landscape.
