Qiu Ying (about 1494-1552) was born in Taicang, Jiangsu Province. He was the real father and moved to Suzhou when he was young. He studied painting in Zhou Chen, introduced by Wen Zhengming, and successively painted in Xiang Yuanbian, a collector, and Chen Guanjia, a native of Changzhou. In the Xiang family, I saw famous paintings of the Song and Yuan Dynasties, and my painting skills improved greatly. I was honored as one of the four great painters of the Ming Dynasty.
