Wang Wen (1497-1576), a native of Wuxi, has the name Ziyu. In the 17th year of Jiajing’s reign of 1898 (the 17th year of Jiajing’s reign), he was a scholar who worked in poetry, calligraphy and painting. This scroll was painted in the 37th year of Jiajing (1558). It was painted purely by lines. The host cooks tea with charcoal in front of the bamboo lozenge, and a teapot with a handle is placed on the lozenge; The face of the scribe’s scroll is very pleasant. It presents the elegant life of literati gathering to discuss books and tea.
