- Description:
Hou Maogong (whose birth and death dates are unknown), named Yimen, was born in Suzhou and was active in Wanli (1573-1620) of the Ming Dynasty. In the painting, the mountains are beautiful and the cliff path and the plank road are winding. If you can enjoy them, you can also visit the hidden village on the top of the mountain. The composition, the shapes of rocks and trees, and the use of pens can be seen from the influence of Wen Zhengming in the Ming Dynasty. 「Y」 The foreground stone and the flat roof in the mountains of the word boundary follow the motif of Huang Gongwang (1269-1354) of the Yuan Dynasty; The scene is dense and detailed, which has the legacy of Wang Meng of the Yuan Dynasty. This painting shows the interest of the Yuan people in a unique way. It is really Hou’s masterpiece.
