Dong Qichang (1555-1636 AD), a native of Huating, was named Xuanzai. In the 16th year of Wanli’s reign as a scholar, Zeng went to the Ministry of Rites as a minister, with the posthumous title of Wen Min. He devoted his life to painting and calligraphy and appreciation, and was an influential artist and critic in the late Ming Dynasty.
