According to records, Zhou Fenglai (1523-1555), a rich man in Kunshan, hired Qiu Ying to draw a 14 meter long scroll based on Sima Xiangru’s Shanglin Fu in the Western Han Dynasty as a birthday gift for his mother’s 80th birthday. This painting was later copied in large numbers, and even attached to it as a masterpiece of Song and Yuan Dynasties.
