This painting depicts two high scholars sitting opposite each other between the pine forests, springs and rocks. One person pokes Ruan, and the other stops playing the piano to listen. The whole painting has a clear landscape, concise brush and ink, the figures’ clothes are drawn with hairspring, and the stones are wrapped in linen. It is extremely rare in Qiu’s paintings. He intentionally avoids the fresh and exquisite appearance of the courtyard and pursues the simple and elegant style of the Ming Dynasty.
