- Description:
Wen Chu (1595-1634 AD) was born in Changzhou, Jiangsu Province (now Suzhou). She is the Xuan granddaughter of Wen Zhengming, a famous painter in the middle of the Ming Dynasty. She has been smart and good at painting since childhood. Every day she sees strange flowers and plants, insects and butterflies, she will trace them. There are thousands of sketches. This is her work at the age of 36. In the painting, three spring silkworms are crawling on a solid mulberry tree with thick branches and leaves. The gnawing marks on the leaves fully point out the theme of the painting; The ingenious combination of white silkworm, green leaves and red fruits creates an incomparably elegant visual effect for this picture with simplified composition.
