- Description:
Dong Qichang said that “this book is based on the Right Army’s” Huang Ting “and” Leyi “, and only uses its meaning instead of seeking similarity. He further pointed out that if he followed suit, he would not be able to gain power. This is also the biggest problem arising from Mi Fu’s early collection of ancient characters. This volume was written in the first year of Chongzhen (1628) with Wang Xizhi’s handwriting. It is completely consistent with the Thousand Character Script, which claimed to use Mi Fu’s handwriting in the seventeenth year of Wanli (1589). If there is a lack of chronology, the very similar calligraphy style of the two works can easily be identified as the same period calligraphy. It is obvious that Dong Qichang’s writing skills have been quite mature after he obtained the Scholars, and there seems to be no obvious change in the future. The only thing that continues to grow is his calligraphy theory and writing view.
