Goddess of Mercy held the child in his hand, willows in his right hand, and water bowls in his left. The Fahua Sutra – Pu Men Pin teaches that women who are eager to seek children can give birth to a man of virtue and wisdom, or a woman with a dignified face, if they worship and support Guanyin Bodhisattva. In the painting, nearly 2000 words of scriptures are copied in regular script, starting from Guanyin’s left arm close to the child’s head. The characters are continuous and neat, reflecting the religious feelings.
