  • Description:
Fifteen kilometers to the west of Suzhou, Tianchi Mountain is surrounded by grotesque stones, and there is a Jijian Temple built in the Yuan Dynasty. Wen Biren skillfully used Juran style to describe this scenic spot in Suzhou; He divided the mountains with long lines of linen, arranged layers of trees at the edge of the hillside, and added small rocks such as fantou on the ridge, making Tianchi Mountain seem dense and strong. The path under the cliff on the right side of the close-up leads the audience to the temple standing beside the large cliff. On the mountain path behind the temple, there are other pedestrians coming and going. On the left side, there is also a house surrounded by a fence. This 1558 painting, with both momentum and rich details, is indeed a masterpiece of Wen Biren in his middle age. You can also see his exploration and performance beyond Wang Meng’s style.
