- Description:
This is a line drawing of Arhat. It depicts the scene of Arhat crossing the sea with different spirits. This kind of sea crossing Arhat was very popular in the Ming Dynasty, and Ding Yunpeng also had this kind of picture scroll. Luohan’s face in this volume is different from Wu Bin’s painting. Scholars point out that it is similar to the works in Canada. According to the inscription, it is the 11th year of Wanli (1583), which may be related to Wu Bin’s early painting style. However, judging from the payment book, it should not be the authentic work of Wu Bin. However, from the modeling of Luohan, we can still see the style of Buddhist figure painting in the late Ming Dynasty.
