It may have been originally made of sapphire. It was carved into a jade pot with a round belly, thick walls, a spout and no handle. The bottom of the ware is engraved with a seal character made in the year of Qianlong, but the surface of the ware around the character is roughened by sandpaper, which is different from other jade articles with model year in the Qing Palace. The surface of the whole machine seems to have been dyed with some black pigment, and the black color is particularly thick at the cracks and in the strokes on the bottom. It is speculated that this pot came from Xinjiang. Because Emperor Qianlong conquered the second tribe of Zhunhui, he regarded the jade articles in this place as the property of the Qing Dynasty, so he ordered the jade workers in the palace to carve more models.
