Wenpeng (1498~1573), born in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, has the name Shoucheng and another name Sanqiao. He studied poetry, calligraphy and painting with his father, Wen Zhengming, when he was young. His talent was high, and he continued to work hard, so his achievements were remarkable. In this exhibition, there are several large cursive seven character metrical poems, some of which are included in the “Collection of the Five Wens”, which can witness that Wen Peng’s talent is the best among the Wens. Wenpeng’s calligraphy is the highest achievement in the big cursive script. The rhythm of the strokes is controlled properly. The stippling looks up and down to the back, so that we can see that there is a feeling of sympathy. It is not a habit of indulging the strokes wantonly.
