  • Description:
Dong Qichang took this book for his friend when he finished writing it. He met again eleven years later in Qu Shisi’s (1590-1650) tilling house. He believed that the beauty of the book was between the dots and paintings, far from the ancients. Qu Shisi, named Qitian and Jiaxuan, was born in Suzhou, a scholar of Wanli, a minister of the Southern Ming Dynasty. He was captured and died in the sixth year of Shunzhi’s reign (1649). Although Qu Shisi is a younger generation, they have a deep relationship with each other, and there are still several calligraphy and painting works that Dong Qichang wrote for him. This work is really full of beauty. In addition to the excellent writing tools, the delicacy of stippling and the quality of lines have reached a high level, and even the performance of ink is quite wonderful.
