There are five trees in the painting space, with thick branches and leaves. Four people are taking a rest under the shade. One is a boy. He is very leisurely and interesting. Gao Song in the painting is similar to the one in the Picture of Yingcuixuan. This kind of modeling often appears in Wen Zhengming’s works. Although the brushwork of this painting is relatively old, it is frank. From the poem I wrote, “When the dust of the horses blows on the face in Chang’an, who knows that the empty mountain is cool in May?” In a word, he was in the capital at that time, but he was not very regulated. Therefore, the time point of creation may be when he arrived in the capital in April of the Guiwei year of Jiajing (1523), when he temporarily lived in the west corridor of Qingshou Temple, perhaps painting the scenes in the temple.
