  • Description:
It is a bluish grey and yellow jade, which is wrapped with many gray and black impurities. There is a long crack on the wall of the bowl, which turns brown yellow due to use. The high foot cups and high foot bowls, which have become popular since the Yuan Dynasty, are called “target cups” and “target bowls” in Qing Dynasty literature. The reason why “target” is connected with “handle” is that the high foot at the bottom of the utensil can be used as a handle. Some scholars thought it was used by Mongolians on horseback, but some scholars also verified that such tall cups and bowls were carried by Tibetans, and most of the utensils used to drink butter tea needed to be matched with bowl covers. According to the changes in the shape and proportion of the bowl body of the Ming and Qing high foot bowls published in the Snow Land Treasures published by the Shanghai Museum in 2001, it is estimated that this device may be a jade “target bowl” of the Ming Dynasty.
