Description:
Flower vase with lingzhi-shaped side handles and underglaze blue decoration. This vase has a dish mouth and long tubular neck with side handles in the form of lingzhi fungus. It has a stepped shoulder and tapers to the top of a high flared foot which is unglazed inside. It is painted in bands with single lingzhi fungus sprays at the neck, classic scroll around the shoulder, a band of lotus scroll and stylized lotus panels around the belly, and inverted lotus petals around the foot, alternating large and small petals, the larger ones containing further designs.

Comments:Harrison-Hall 2001:Its form is based on a bronze altar vase, but the handles in the form of lingzhi fungus appear to be an innovation. The inverted lotus-petal band around the foot is quite commonly found on porcelains of the first half of the fourteenth century.
