Description:
These two small fragments, one rectangular and one square, originally came from the same textile with two types of rosettes or medallions. One of the medallions is formed by decorative petals in a fungus shape, and the other with simpler petals like a lotus, arranged in staggered rows. Some tiny rosettes along the medallions form symmetrical S-shaped lines. The weave structure of this textile is very unusual, that is an 8-end warp faced satin for the foundation weave, though the weft has two sets. The wefts comprise of one white set while the other set alternates in blue and light brown. The weft floats for the pattern are in white for the outline and either blue or brown for the roundels. The reconstructed pattern repeat is about 5.6 cm in the warp direction but 9.5 cm in the weft direction. Weave structures: Warp: silk, untwisted, single, white, 25 ends/cm; Weft: silk, untwisted, single, white and blue/light brown; 20 lats/cm. Weave structure: 8-end warp faced satin for the foundation; but weft floats for the pattern. 兩件殘片來自同一織物，一件長方形，另一件基本爲正方形。織物上有兩種團花，一種可以被復原，帶有較強裝飾味的如意形花瓣，另一種是較爲簡單的蓮花形花瓣，兩種團花錯排。邊上有極小的六瓣花繞成對稱的S形花帶。其組織結構極爲罕見，它由8枚經面緞紋構成地部組織，其緯線分成兩組，一組白色，另一組是米色和藍色分色區排列，而其花部組織由緯浮構成，白色作團花構邊，而團花分別由米色和藍色爲主。復原後的圖案循環大約是經向5.6釐米，緯向9. 5釐米。 经线：丝，无捻，单根排列，白色，25根/cm；纬线：丝，无捻，单根排列，分为两组，一组白色，另一组蓝色或者米色，20根/cm；组织：经线和两组纬线织成8枚经面缎纹作地，纬浮显花。
