Description:
A band fragment woven with wool. Yellow, brown and red colours of warps are arranged alternately, forming wide brown and yellow strips, and red lines. The pattern is clear because of the warp-faced plain weave. Similar but more complete bands were excavated from the tomb 3 at Niya site in 1995, and even more found in Shanpula tombs in Xinjiang. Weave structures: Warp: wool, Z twisted, single, yellow, red and brown arranged alternately, 8 ends/cm; Weft: wool, Z twisted, yellow, single, 20 lats/cm. Weave structure: warp-faced 1/1 plain weave.
