Description:
Tankard with a flat base. Coat of arms of Yorke; “Argent a saltire azure”; crest, “A monkey’s head”; impaling Cocks of Worcester; “Sable a chevron between three stags’ attires fixed to the scalps argent”. Made of enamelled porcelain with gilded diaper patterns round the base and mouthrim. Philip Yorke, later Lord Hardwicke was appointed Lord High Steward of England for four peers after the Rising in 1745. In 1754 he was advanced to the Earldom of Hardwicke. He had married in 1719 Mrgaret, daughter of Charles Cocks, M.P. for Worcester.
