Description:
Porcelain stem cup with ‘anhua’, underglaze blue decoration and iron-brown rim. Although similar to BM 1973.0726.358, this stem cup has a slightly different profile without the everted rim. It also has a deep rounded bowl and a flared foot with a horizontal rib and stepped edge. Inside it is similarly decorated with a bird on a branch in a double ring medallion in dull dark shades of underglaze blue and around the cavetto are faint ‘anhua’ designs of horses. The rim is painted iron brown, suggesting a metal mount. Inside the foot is unglazed.
