Connoisseurs in China, Europe and Japan have developed a sophisticated vocabulary for describing monochrome porcelains. For example the flecked-green wares such as these are called ‘tea-dust’ glazed wares. The glaze is coloured by iron-pigments. There is an inscription inside the foot which reads 植本堂 (Zhiben Tang ‘Hall of the Roots of Plants’). This mark is mentioned in the Taoya where it states that it was mostly used for ‘tea-dust’ glazed wares in the Jiaqing and Daoguang periods of the Qing dynasty.Porcelain with tea-dust glazeJingdezhen, Jiangxi province 江西省, 景德鎮Qing dynasty, about 1800–1850 PDF A570銘文高足杯高足杯足部有一周凸起,施斑點綠釉。
