Description:
These octagonal porcelain dishes rest on high eight-sided stands. Inside they are painted in green, yellow and black enamels and cold-painted with iron-red and gilding. The central design is of a butterfly with flowering chrysanthemums framed by an ornate ruyi head red border. In the cavetto are further chrysanthemums against geometric diaper designs with four painted cartouches alternatively framing chaffinch birds on flowering prunus branches, and paired butterflies with cockscomb flowers. On the underside of one of the stands the biscuit body is partially visible but otherwise they are glazed and carry further floral motifs.
