soup-plate BM-Franks.857.+

Period:Qing dynasty Production date:1760-1770
Materials:porcelain
Technique:painted

Dimensions:Diameter: 9 inches

Description:
Plate (soup). The armorial design, in sepia, was almost certainly copied from a book-plate, with the arms of Jordan, “Azure nine lozenges, three, three and three, argent”, impaling Rogers, “Argent a chevron between three stags courant sable”. There are many similar Rogers coats, but if the tinctures are correct then this is the family of Rogers of Connington in ‘Somerset’ (? connington in Huntingdonshire). Made of enamelled and grisaille porcelain.
