In the foreground, a boat on the lake is painted. Behind it, the mountain rocks are dense and colorful. Tall miscellaneous trees are scattered. At the top of the mountain, waterfalls flow down. The left winding path falls into the clouds, and the magnificent peaks on it slant out of the sky. The motif of Huang Gongwang’s style can be seen in the painting, but the whole painting is more similar to Wen Zhengming’s style in terms of structure, rocks and tree techniques. According to the postscript, this painting was painted by Mei Jian Nunnery in the 14th year of Zhizheng (1354); In the eighth year of Yongle (1410), descendants of Mei family invited Shen Du (1357-1434) to make postscript; In the fifth year of Zhengde (1510), Wen Zhengming (1470-1559) also left a title. Wen Zhengming’s inscription “wall” is written as “bi”, which is different from common. This work may have been written by someone who was good at imitating Wen Zhengming’s style in the late Ming Dynasty.
